Castelli di Bellinzona

The lighting project of the Bellinzona Castles, Castelgrande, Montebello, and Sasso Corbaro, involved the requalification of the existing system and the enhancement of architectural elements that had remained in shadow until then.

In full respect of the historical and environmental context, I adopted a warm light, capable of integrating discreetly with the architecture and enhancing its original materials and colors. The lighting technique employed ensures a perceptual balance between light and shadow, favoring a visual and emotional engagement of the observer.

The lighting fixtures, installed on specially designed poles and crossbars, are equipped with monochromatic LED technology, differentiated optics with narrow, medium, and wide beams, and accessories such as holographic refractors, visors, and honeycomb filters for glare control. The system is managed remotely through a wireless system, allowing for the activation of dedicated lighting scenarios.

The project adhered to the pre-existing plant constraints, which did not allow for the relocation of the lighting positions. The result is an illumination that enhances the night identity of the three Castles, increases their tourist attractiveness, and ensures safety and visual comfort, minimizing unwanted light spill.
