Chiesa Collegiata dei S.S. Pietro e Stefano

The Collegiate Church of Saints Peter and Stephen in Bellinzona is a religious building from the 15th century of great symbolic, artistic, and architectural value, enriched by the presence of particularly significant works of art.

In the lighting project, I took all these aspects into account, working to ensure that the installations did not interfere with the architectural quality of the church and, at the same time, enhanced its most significant artistic elements through light.

I adopted various lighting techniques: direct light for the nave, indirect light towards the vault, and accent lighting to highlight the architectural details. To give depth and thickness to the side chapels, I integrated an indirect light component towards the vault and a direct light dedicated to the friezes, paintings, and statues housed within.

The activation of the fixtures was finally organized into various lighting scenarios, designed to meet the different usage needs of the space, such as daily services, weekday and festive celebrations, solemnities, and guided tours of a tourist nature.
